It focuses on the chemical basis of body functions, drugs, solutions, gases, acids and bases, electrolytes, and biochemical compounds such as carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, enzymes, aldehydes, ketones, and alcohols. Emphasis is placed on the application of chemistry to nursing practice, including medication preparation and administration, fluid and electrolyte balance, diagnostic tests, sterilization and disinfection, metabolism, and toxicology. The course is designed to strengthen students’ scientific understanding, enhance critical thinking, and support safe, evidence-based nursing care.
